Top 10:

Kid-friendly - Paris Hotels

  • The Best of NileGuide
  • A visit to Paris is for many families the trip of a lifetime. There is so much to see - the Eiffel Tower, the Mona Lisa, the Champs Elysées - but you won't enjoy any of it unless you have the right hotel. Luckily, though Paris can be an expensive city, and the price of all those entrance tickets can add up, there are many good-value hotels. If you don't speak French, check before you book that the staff speak your language. Their help will make a big difference to your stay. Equally, if a wifi connection is important you or your children, make sure the hotel has free wifi before booking. Families with small children should look for a hotel near one of the jardins or parks, where they will find lots to amuse them. Ideally, you and your family want to stay somewhere that's near the main attractions. This isn't as hard as you might think since Paris is a compact city and very walkable. The public transport system is excellent, too. Many of the budget brand-name hotels are on the outskirts of the city, in modern blocks. They are good value, but it's probably better to stay in a traditional building in one of the inner arrondissements. They are less likely to be airconditioned and sometimes noise and the small size of the bedrooms is an issue, but even on a short stay, you can begin to own your local quartier, become habitués of your favourite café and when your feet weary, it will be easier to take a short break in your room before diving into the Parisian whirl again.
