Despite its good location on a quiet street in the Marais, the owners of this two-star hotel obviously wanted to make their offering stand out from all the other small hotels in Paris. Le septième art ("the seventh art") is what the French, that most movie-loving nation - call cinema. So each of the 23 rooms here is decorated with cinema posters while the tiny lobby has a collection of memorabilia. Whether you go to sleep overlooked by Greta Garbo or Groucho Marx, all rooms have air-conditioning and cable TV, and the hotel has a good DVD library. Additional facilities include a bistro-bar, a lounge with an open fireplace and a piano. Downstairs, the stone vaults hide an underground gym and laundry facilities. None of it is smart or plush, but it's fun and original in a studenty way.
