Description:
The Burgundy is one of the least-expensive hotels in a mortgage-the-house sea of super-priced accommodations. The frequently renovated building was constructed in the 1830s as two adjacent town houses -- one a pension where Baudelaire wrote poetry in the 1860s, the other a bordello. British-born managers who insisted on using the English name, linked the houses. The hotel hosts many North and South Americans and has conservatively decorated rooms.
