Tokyo Eat - Paris

  • Description:

    • Ignore the name. There is no Japanese food served here. What is called the "glam-funk fashion-and-design crowd" fills up the tables at the daringly avant-garde museum, Palais de Tokyo. Like miniature space ships, large pink spheres overhead flash in time to the booming music. The spacious Art Deco terrace is the most sought-after place to dine in fair weather.

Each day the chefs prepare a series of tasty plats du jour. The most expensive item on the menu is filet of beef with morels and a yellowish Jura wine. In their innovative recipes, the chefs are as modern as the museum itself -- take the minestrone of sardines, for example. Mains might include gilt-head bream tartare with fruit chutney and a ginger-and-vanilla oil or else satay-crusted loin of lamb with baby eggplant.
