Description:
Visiting the Musee d'Orsay's magnificent but huge collection of paintings, sculptures and decorative arts can be daunting, so take a two-hour introductory guided tour for an illuminating overview of the Orsay Museum's collections. Best of all, you won't have to join the queues waiting to enter the Musee d'Orsay!
Your morning tour focuses on well-known masterpieces of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. You'll see how the Impressionists reinvented not only landscapes and urban scenes but also more traditional subjects such as portraits and still lifes. You'll also see how a new generation of artists, from Van Gogh to Matisse, invented new ways of painting after Monet and Renoir, from the 1880s and onwards.
After your two-hour guided visit to the Orsay Museum, you are free to stay on in the museum if you would like to visit other parts of the collection.
Note that you'll meet your tour guide at 1 rue d'Alger, around the corner from rue de Rivoli and a short walk from the Tuileries metro. You'll then walk together to the Musee d'Orsay from your meeting point.
