Montmartre is a great place to stay but remember the streets are very steep. In summer they are busy and noisy, too. The houses are older than many other parts of Paris so your room is likely to be small. For an inexpensive apart’hotel (like a studio apartment) try Citadines Montmartre (http://www.nileguide.com/destination/paris/hotels/citadines-apart-hotel-montmartre/393095 ), which has a great view of Paris from its roof terrace and is a modern block at the foot of the hill.

Last year i stayed at the hotel delavigne in the latin quarter in Paris. The hotel is very small but well kept and well decorated. The room was small too but sufficient and after all this is what you expect in a city like Paris ! The location is fantastic however, right in the middle of the latin quarters and walking distance from many attractions.
The following is the link to the hotel
