There is a direct train from the station Paris Bercy (near Gare de Lyon) leaving at 7H27pm, arriving at Venise 14 hours later.
Planes leave several times in the day from airports Orly or Charles de Gaulle. Time: approx. 2 hours flight

The plane is fast, the train is more planet-friendly. Take the métro or a taxi to Paris Gare de Lyon for the train to Milan where you can change for another train to Venice Mestre. The vaporetto waterbuses are right outside the station. The trip takes a shade under 10 hours. Or go overnight from Paris Bercy (next to Gare de Lyon), go to sleep in a couchette and arrive at Venice San Lucia, the next morning without changing. You can book on the Rail Europe website (www.raileurope.co.uk )
