  • Finding a good walking track is easy in Perth. The Perth locals live much of their lives outdoors enjoying the sunshine, so walking is a part of daily life for many, and there are numerous beautiful places for anything from a pleasant stroll to a serious walk.

The most famous walking track near Perth is the Bibbulmum Track, a 500 km bush walk running from Perth down to Albany on the south coast of Western Australia. The track is carefully maintained to make bushwalking safe and fun, with shelters constructed along the way, and there are maps to guide you on just a short walk close to Perth or a longer part of the track - and some people even spend several weeks walking its entire length.

For animal-lovers, the guided walk through the Karakamia Sanctuary in the hills is perfect, and it takes place in the evenings so that you can spot some of the unusual nocturnal animals native to Perth and surrounds. Local wildlife is also on display if you walk around Lake Monger or Herdsman Lake, with black swans in particular being common here.

Smaller parks like Hyde Park provide good paths for gentle walks or pushing a pram, and the other popular alternative for a Perth walk is to take a stroll along one of its many beautiful beaches, which are usually covered in gorgeous white sand and where you can walk for long distances with little interruption.
