Active Things To Do in Perth

Perth people are active people, with a love of the great outdoors and not sitting still, so finding active things to do in Perth is certainly straightforward. One of the most fun places to get active in and around Perth is at Rottnest Island, a short ferry ride from the city. At "Rotto", as the locals call it, you can hire a bicycle to get around the vehicle-free island, you can go snorkelling in the numerous bays or you can go scuba-diving on the shipwrecks nearby.

To get really active, take a trek on the Bibbulmum Track, a walking course through the bush running all the way from Perth to Albany in the south-west - some weeks' walk away! But there are plenty of great ways to enjoy a short part of the Bibbulmun Track if you don't have enough time to complete it. For a shorter but equally scenic walk, try a round of Lake Monger in the northern suburbs.

Perth is famous for its many golf courses and one of the most accessible golf courses is the Burswood Park Golf Course, close to the city centre. Surfing is another popular active pasttime in Perth, and you can catch some great waves at Scarborough Beach or Leighton Beach, or just go for a swim - perhaps the easiest beach to get to is Cottesloe Beach, close to the Cottesloe train station. Continuing with the water theme, you can get active on the Leeuwin ship by helping out in a voyage, or swim around with the wild dolphins through a Rockingham Wild Encounters outing.
