Fremantle

The main port of Perth, and unofficially considered a city in its own right, Fremantle is a special place of both historical and cultural value. Buildings constructed by early convicts still stand, such as the Round House and the Fremantle Prison, and the prison can be toured by candlelight or by exploring its underground tunnels by boat. As a port, the Western Australian Maritime Museum is a significant attraction, and no visit to Fremantle is complete without a meal of fish and chips at one of the restaurants at the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour.

On the weekends, the Fremantle Markets and the E-Shed Markets attract shoppers looking for fresh produce, local arts and crafts and souvenirs. The famous cappuccino strip along South Terrace has endless possibilities for a meal or a coffee, and Fremantle's nightlife options are excellent. Local pubs such as the Sail and Anchor are a great place for a drink, and local brewery Little Creatures offers boutique beer with great meals.
