Neighborhood Description

Northbridge

The nightlife centre of Perth, a suburb known as Northbridge, is adjacent to the city centre, and soon to be joined when the railway line that separates them is reconstructed underground. Nightclubs, pubs, restaurants and cafes cover every corner of Northbridge and there is something special happening every night of the week. The multicultural nature of Perth's population comes into full play in Northbridge, with numerous Asian and European influences apparent. Restaurants with authentic multinational cuisines are common, as are supermarkets and small grocery stores stocking specialist foods from around the world.

The cultural heart of the city can also be found here with the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the Western Australian Museum and the State Library all sharing space on an adjacent square. Smaller galleries and theatres are also found throughout Northbridge. When the Perth International Arts Festival is held in February each year, many of the music, dance, theatre and art shows on offer take place around Northbridge.
