Swan River Estuary Marine Park

Description:

  • Every year in summer more than 10,000 wader birds pass through Swan River Estuary Marine park. The Swan River is a sparkling blue waterway and the estuary marine park covers an area of 325 hectares with several wetlands and mudflats. Pelicans, ibis and egrets are permanent residents. There are more than 140 marine species including ancient mussels that date back 6,000 years. Walk or cycle along the Milyu foreshore; there are information plaques along the way, Or enjoy the views across the mudflats from the observation platform at Pelican Point. Other access points include Alfred Cove, Attadale and Applecross.
