Description:

  • Le Virtu, located in the heart of South Philly and near the trendy area of Passyunk Square, offers traditional food in the Abruzzo tradition.  Meats, naturally raised on local farms, are all butchered and cured in-house; pastas, made with imported Italian flour, are cut in-house; sauces are cooked slowly in the Italian tradition.  In traditional Italian style, the menu offers antipasti, primi (pasta dishes), and secondi (meat dishes), as well as a vast selection of house-cured meats and sausages.  To accompany your meal, Le Virtu offers a changing selection of fine wines, many from Abruzzo, as well as several craft beers from local brewers (as well as tasty imported beers), and a short list of interesting cocktails.  Along with the indoor restaurant, Le Virtu also offers Campo, an outside beer garden featuring a charming mural by Philadelphia's Mural Arts Program.  Campo has its own small menu of snacks and grilled meats--think of this as an upscale Italian version of a bar menu.
