Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion - Philadelphia

  • Description:

    • Ebenezer Maxwell, a Philadelphia cloth merchant, built this large home in 1859 in what was then the suburb of Germantown.  The mansion now serves as an excellent example of Victorian architecture and living, with its working gas lamps, stenciled ceilings, and fine furnishings.  Outdoor gardens also reflect Victorian middle-class living.
