Hotels in the Phoenix metropolitan area range from budget motels to sprawling luxury resorts, with most of the 55,000-plus hotel rooms in the city falling somewhere in between. Fortunately, no matter what part of town you plan to stay in, the odds are good you'll find a great place to rest your head after a long day in the Valley of the Sun.
The Clarendon Hotel in central Phoenix tops our list of places to stay in the Valley, not because it's the swankiest place to hang your hat, but because it's a quintessentially modern Phoenix retreat, with a fabulous rooftop skydeck offering amazing views of downtown Phoenix.
Of course, Phoenix has built its reputation as a sun-worshipers paradise on the basis of historic, luxury resorts like the Arizona Biltmore and Royal Palms Resort and Spa. For high spenders with an eye towards relaxation and rejuvenation in the desert, nothing beats the architectural marvels and lush grounds of these pricey resorts.
Budget travelers may have to look a bit harder, especially around the Camelback Corridor or central Phoenix, but hotels like the Budget Lodge Downtown and moderately-priced, business-class Hotel Highland at the Biltmore fill the gaps between rock-bottom motels and high-end resorts.
