Housed inside a 1929 brick house in Gilbert, Joe's Real BBQ evokes the simple, down-home aesthetic of a small Texas barbecue joint. The decor celebrates the heyday of Arizona's 40s-era agricultural golden age, and the food and ambiance reflect a connoisseur's touch. Meats are roasted over Oyler pits using renewable, Arizona-grown pecan wood, which adds a subtle, fine shade to the meat. The BBQ side of the menu includes the BBQ Sampler Plate, which features over 3/4 lbs. of ribs, pork, chicken, and beef, and comes with bread and one homemade side dish. Also recommended are the Meat Plate and savory BBQ Sandwich. If pork ribs are on your mind, Joe's Real BBQ serves up a great full slab of St. Louis cut spare ribs served with a homemade side. The restaurant menu also features specialty salads and a mouth-watering selection of made-from-scratch desserts, including Apple Crisp, Sweet Potato Pie, and the homemade Root Beer Cake.
