Description:
- This hole-in-the-wall establishment, run by the grandson of the Phoenix soul-food-legend Mrs. Elizabeth White, is often packed with hungry locals craving some old-fashioned soul food complete with all the trimmings, from collard greens to mashed potatoes. The boisterous and unpretentious setting is made up of several small rooms still laid out as part of the original house, all packed with tables full of diners. The waffles are light and fluffy and the chicken is fried to a non-dieters ideal of perfection. Be sure to try the Red Velvet cake along with some Sweet Tea (if you have room after the your main plate has been cleared away, that is). When in the Downtown area, stop by if you are in search of an authentic taste that locals swear by.
