Aek-Ka-Nek pub is best known to locals as "the Johnnie Walker pub" because of the big sign that stands on the roof of the building. Even on busy Chana-Charoen Road, where pubs and bars abound, it's hard to miss this place. Aek is open for only a few hours, between 7:30 pm and 1:00 am, so if you're coming to see the (rather good) house band, make sure you arrive early to ensure you'll get a table. There's no cover charge to get in, but the drink menu is on the expensive side. One big advantage of Aek is that the crowds never get too crazy. So if you're looking for a dynamic but safe place to enjoy live music, Aek might just fit the bill.
