- It's hard to imagine ever getting tired of Thai food but if you do feel like a change of pace, Phuket has a number of good Italian restaurants. Acqua is a trendy place that offers fresh ingredients, a stylish setting with sleek modern furniture and friendly service. Salvatore's is a favorite among locals. La Gondola Ristorante has elegant decor to match the style and presentation of its dishes, which include housemade pastas. Owner Bepy Graziani di Ceneda established the first Toto Italian Restaurant in 1981. This is the second in his group of three and is located at the entrance to the Laguna Phuket complex. Uncle Nan's has panoramic views from its terrace. La Trattoria has an outdoor terrace around a refreshing and cool fountain. Al Dente serves homemade-pizza and pasta in a beachside setting. While it's not exactly Florenctine in quality and authenticity, the Italian cuisine of Phuket does offer a nice break from Thai food if you feel you need one.
