- Everybody who comes to Thailand heads to the stadium to watch a Thai boxing match, but what about taking part in one? You don't need previous experience or even a big knack for sports -At the Phromthep Thai Boxing Camp, you can become a fighter for a day (or a week, if you're more ambitious) and learn what it takes to be a muay thai champion. There aren't many antique shops in Thailand, so Chan's Antiques is a welcome addition. Don't let the name fool you, though. Not everything in the store is actually old. Many items are new hand-carved pieces shipped from Chiang Mai or imported from abroad. The store does sell antiques, mainly from Cambodia and Myanmar. If nature is more your style, you can head to the Gibbons Rehabilitation Project, where you can interact with animals who have been given a new leash on life. Whatever else you do while in Phuket, make sure you carve some extra time to discover the quirky, the unusual and the unexpected side of the city.
