Hi
The cost is about 650 baht via Airport Limo Sawatdee Village. If you take the meter taxi it costs around 450 baht.

Around the corner from this hotel are some excellent restaurants such as:
Natalies - Thai Food
The Horn Grill - Thai and Western
Capanninas - Italian (the best pizzas on the island)
Two Chefs - Western

On the southern end of Kata Beach (about 10 minutes walk from the Sawatdee) is Kata Seafood for tasty inexpensive Thai food. Perfect for sundowners. Located next to it under the big tree is The Ska Bar - a great spot directly on the beach for music and fire dancers. Very popular amongst the ex pats and tourists. On Friday nights they have a free BBQ with fire dancing.

Hope this helps you.

From P. Airport to say KATA beach is around 70 km. If you take a minivan it takes you around an hour.
For entertainment try "On the Rock" on the beach/rock between AO KATA YAI and KARON and "ANCHOR BAR" on THANON (Rd.) TAINA.
Listen to locals as well as they may know better places.

Greetings Danny
The places to meet people is anywhere from Patong to Karon and Kata. These are the big tourist areas on Phuket. Depends also who you want to meet? Fellow travelers always get charged double price for any shopping, etc.
For good dance music I would recommend the VIP, they even have a mini dance floor and RIO have good music. For the rest of the places there is always Tiger and Seduction discos in Patong. Unfortunately, being geared to the young crowd, they often play techno music.
Sound Lab in Surin Beach, is also recommended but it is quite pricey as it is in a very upmarket area.
Hope you have a wonderful time here.
Over New Year there will also be many beach parties.

2. There are plenty of places as a MUST to have experienced. Bet you'll have fun
