    • Plovdiv is one of the best cities Bulgaria has to offer. The old area comprises an an old forgotten Roman Colliseum which the pedestrian area is sort of growing over. This is also the location of the famous Roman Ampitheatre that was only rediscoverd in the 1970's when a housing development touched off a landslide and uncovered the ruins. After the ampitheatre you can walk towards the ruined fortress on cobbled streets. In the wall along the way you will find Ellena's pottery shop where you can see the traditional pottery made and buy some wares if you want.
