• Type: Hiking
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

The best moderate hike in Point Reyes, with a spectacular payoff when Alamere creek is running high.

  • NileGuide Expert tip:

In dry years (most years, these days) the waterfall is not much more than a trickle by August. This is a premier Spring hike, when the wildflowers and rain-swollen creeks combine for an exquisite experience.

    Description:

    • Take the Coastal Trail north from the Palomarin trailhead at the south end of the park. You'll enjoy fantastic views over the Pacific, great swimming in Bass Lake, and ultimately a beautiful waterfall falling directly onto the beach. If the tide is out, (carefully) explore the exquisite tide pools on the beach south of the falls. Keep your eye out for starfish, sea anemones and hermit crabs.
