Description:

  • This is one of the finest, most upscale independent restaurants in Guadeloupe, with an allegiance to the tenets of French cooking that you might expect on the French mainland. Because of its fine food and its sense of Gallic style, no one really cares that there isn't a water view. Surrounded by potted flowers and shrubs, with a view over palm trees and reproductions of paintings by Miró and Matisse, you'll dine in a white-and-green room with a hint of Provence. Menu items focus on fresh shellfish, much of which comes from fish tanks near the restaurant's entrance. Scallops with a Noilly Prat vermouth sauce, sweetbreads and morels in puff pastry, and several different preparations of foie gras (including a succulent version that's fried and served with a reduction of sweet Banyuls wine) make a flavorful beginning. This restaurant is particularly proud of specific European menu items, which include boeuf charolais imported from France, usually served with pepper sauce.
