Planning a Trip

Getting There -- Bodmin is the nearest railway station. It lies on the main line from London (Paddington Station) to Penzance (about a 4-hr. trip). Call tel. 0845/748-4950 or visit www.nationalrail.co.uk. Many hotels will send a car to pick up guests at the Bodmin station, or you can take a taxi. If you take a bus from Bodmin, you'll have to change buses at Wadebridge, and connections are not good. Driving time from Bodmin to Port Isaac is 40 minutes.

A bus from Wadebridge goes to Port Isaac about six times a day. It's maintained by Western Greyhound (tel. 01637/871871). Wadebridge is a local bus junction to many other places in the rest of England.

If you're driving from London, take the M4 west, and then drive south on the M5. Head west again at the junction with the A39, continuing to the junction with the B3267, which you follow until you reach the signposted cutoff for Port Isaac.
