Description:
- Okeechobee West begins at the Okee-tantie Recreation Area where the Kissimmee River flows into the lake. This particular segment is a 21.9-mile stretch. It is the least popular segment due to its very limited views. Invasion plants dominate the route. Hikers trek this route for a matter of principle based upon exclaiming they've hiked the lake's entire perimeter. Okeechobee West terminates just beyond Curry Island at Sportsman Village.
Directions from Okee-tantie Rec Area: Six miles southwest of the town of Okeechobee, the trail begins along State Route 78 at the north shore.
