Portland's Eastern Promenade is one of the city's most famous and beloved recreational trails. This 2.1 mile walkway offers a paved, generally level surface that is ideal for everyone from casual strollers to joggers and cyclists. Whether you are engaging in your weekly running regimen or simply ambling along, the promenade offers expansive, choice views of Casco Bay for all to enjoy. Here you can enjoy the scenery of boats bobbing in the calm waters, as well as birds and even seals frolicking along the shoreline. Benches and picnic tables enable visitors to relax and linger on the views. The trail also connects to East End Beach for swimming (changing rooms and public toilets are available). A public boat launch provides convenient access to the bay for boaters, kayakers and canoe fans.
