Each spring, Portland welcomes spring and summer with its high energy, fun-filled Old Port Festival. This event has something for everyone but is especially appealing to families with plenty of things to do. In 2011, the Old Port Festival takes place on Sunday, June 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This year, children's events are presented by the Children's Museum and Theater of Maine and feature everything from a bungee trampoline to a 25-foot high rock climbing wall and a trapeze swing. Adults, too, can get in on the fun with a diverse sampling of arts and crafts vendors, highly talented street musicians and bands, and delicious gourmet street fare to sample.
