This two-story, 1888 Queen Anne Victorian in Portland's Lair Hill district is listed on both the state and national registers of historic places. Inside the old General, you will find a classic but comfortable decor, featuring incredible old woodwork and high ceilings. While the style may be Old World, the breakfasts are decidedly New World. Healthy vegetarian fare, usually incorporating seasonal fruit, is served in the dining room. The house has two rooms with private baths and two other rooms that share a bathroom.

There is a resident cat that is not allowed in the bedrooms or the kitchen, but no other pets allowed. Smoking allowed on the deck only and a cleaning fee is charged for smoking in other areas.
