Outside the City: Portland

If you're visiting Portland, there are several areas outside of the city that are worth taking a look at if you have the time. In particular, the towns of Gresham and Lake Oswego are small charming places to visit if you're in the area. Also, the town of Eugene is funky and fun, and a great place to wander and shop. More importantly, there are day hikes outside of Portland that are beautiful to take. Little Crater Lake is an amazing place to visit, and well worth the trek. And if you have the time and the gumption, Breitenbush Hot Springs, located on an ancient Indian burial ground in the middle of the woods, is a unique place to spend a day soaking in Oregon's hot springs.
