Salem/Eugene/Southern Oregon: Portland

Although most of this area is farmland and small towns, Southern Oregon has some very unique spots that are well worth a day trip. Most of Oregon has great hikes, and Southern Oregon is no exception. Both Eugene and Salem are interesting places to visit, with Eugene being a cultural hot spot due to the large amount of college students living there. You'll find funky shops and unique restaurants in this cool little town that echoes Portland's creativity. There are also hot springs just outside of the town that are favorites among the Eugene college students, and are worth a trip if the weather is right.
