- Rows and rows of rhododendrons, azaleas and other native plants are set among a lake, springs, and waterfalls. The "rhodies," as Portlanders call them, are beautiful trees of all sizes and color flowers. May and June is when most of them bloom and the color is truly spectacular. March through the first Monday in September, a $3 donation is charged. Admission is free for children under 12. All other times admission is free.
