Hood River Ranger District

Description:

  • The Hood River Ranger District features the highest peak in the forest, Mount Hood, as well as the Columbia and Mount Hood Wildernesses. There is an abundance of lakes, streams and creeks, in addition to the Hood River, which offer excellent fishing and boating. Numerous trails and campgrounds also provide outdoor enthusiasts a great deal of backpacking, hiking, biking and horseback riding opportunities.

    Recreation in this ranger district includes fishing, hiking, biking, backpacking, camping, climbing, horseback riding, and boating.

    Located in the northern portion of the Mount Hood National Forest, the Hood River Ranger District can be accessed from Highway 35 and Primary Forest Routes 17, 13, 20, 10, 44, 16 and 18.
