Outdoors enthusiasts especially will appreciate this 3-year-old small lodge built at the base of the 1,200-foot Shawangunk cliffs on 17 acres. The area, adjacent to the Mohonk Preserve and a short distance from Minnewaska State Park (and just 6 miles from New Paltz), is a favorite of hikers and rock climbers. The lodge is woodsy and rustic, like a comfortable mountain inn, with high ceilings and lots of windows in common rooms. The terrific outdoor deck looks out onto the 'Gunks (cliffs), and some rooms have private decks (the suite has a private patio). Rooms on the second floor are handsomely decorated in a contemporary style and have cathedral ceilings and either cliff or forest views.
