Description:
Big and a bit dingy, this Prague landmark in the belly of the downtown palace built by Václav Havel's father provides the best lineup of Czech garage bands, ex-underground acts, and an occasional reggae or blues gig. The drinks are still cheap for the city center, with a pull of beer under 25Kc ($1.20/60p). The feel of the Lucerna, with its mirrored ball spinning the night away, borrows from disco but is mixed with the funky edginess of the period around the revolution. The crowd is still mostly local. The Lucerna is a frequent stop of the band Laura and Her Tigers. Open daily from 8pm to 3am, with live music usually beginning at 9pm.
