Nothing says comfort food like a steaming plate of spaghetti or a fresh from the brick oven pizza. This isn't Italy, so don't expect food like your Italian grandma would make, but there is a large selection of Italian restaurants in Prague, serving up tasty food to please everyone in your group. Pizza and pasta are an easy travelers' meal - and can be relatively inexpensive. And of course, your stomach will probably appreciate a break from pork and dumplings. Here are our tips for some better Italian in town.
Number one won't be easy on your wallet, but will be a very enjoyable experience. Allegro is Prague's first Michelin star restaurant and the atmosphere and food are divine. Ambiente pasta fresco is another delicious choice, as is Kogo. Both offer fine dining in relaxed atmospheres.
Pizza is popular everywhere, and you can find some decent pies in Prague. Thin crust and nearly every topping you can imagine; however watch out for occasionally questionable cheese (mozzarella isn't a given) and the still favored ketchup bottle for sauce. Pizzeria Grosseto is a busy place, service though can be a bit off. Pizzeria di Carlo, with its beautiful hidden garden is a gem and Komotro consistently gets the thumbs up from locals.
Rugantino's is another popular joint with consistent quality and Coliseums can be found in numerous places around town. Crazy Daisy in Prague 2 has a long menu and Venezia, also in Prague 2 offers 50% off sale late weekday afternoons. Finally, for one of the best Italian restaurants in the center, hit Giallo Rossa for decent prices and super food.
