Travelling with children is a great way to expose them to new places and cultures, as well as opening adult eyes to the childlike wonder all around. Prague might not seem like a kid's dream, what with all the architecture and music, but there are enough child-friendly places to keep all ages amused. When it comes to choosing a kid-friendly hotel, enquire beforehand about any amenities the hotel may offer, and look for ones that offer freebies for kids like breakfast, room stays, etc.
When it comes to knowing kids, large chain hotels, while they may seem impersonal, are often a parent's best bet. Luckily in Prague, most have taken their Prague locale and infused some charm into the interior or design, or the hotel is located in a historic building. Hilton Prague is our number one choice for size and convenience. The Courtyard by Marriott knows its kids stuff, and the one in Flora is located a bit outside the center, but with a mall and lots of neighborhood shops and restaurants nearby. The Best Western Hotel Kampa is located on Kampa Island which offers a big green space and park.
An apartment is another super option for families – they offer a kitchen for picky eaters and more space to relax when everyone is on tourist-site overload. The Hunger Wall residence is a very classy place, while those on more of a budget should find something at the Castle Steps to please. For families on a tight budget, the Hostel U Melounu is a friendly place that offers a few apartments, plus the building is situated around a grassy courtyard for some outdoor time on the doorstep.
Whichever you choose, inform staff ahead of time that you'll be traveling with children and ask for recommendations nearby for places to play, see and eat.
