Café Milena

Description:

• Milena is run by the nonprofit Franz Kafka Society, which also operates the ground-floor gallery. Kafka himself never had the chance to visit this particular establishment (which dates to post-communist times) but he was a regular at many of the city's cafés and literary salons. The main selling point here is not the food and drink but the irresistible view of the Old Town Hall's astronomical clock just across the plaza. Strangely, although thousands gather every hour on the square to observe the medieval clockwork in action, there are often empty seats upstairs in the café. Newspapers (in Czech) are provided for customers.
