Kostel svaté Ludmila

Description:

  • The Kostel svaté Ludmila is a Neo-Gothic church constructed sometime in the 19th-century. Constructed by Josef Mocker, this architectural marvel is the talk of the town. The exterior is made up of two towers with bells which are visible even from a distance. The interiors contain rich ornaments, stained glass windows with paintings on saints on them and also sculptures. The altar here was constructed by Turkish architect Houdek and is decorated with the medal of God the Father, paintings of the life of St Ludmila and rich semi precious stones. A prominent figure out here is the statue of Jesus Christ flanked by statues of St Prokop and St Ludmila on either side. The church apart from its regular religious services also plays host to choir festivals, community celebrations and other social gatherings.
