- The church was used as an asylum for the two Czech assasins who killed Nazi Reinhard Heydrich (The Butcher of Prague). You can visit the church of Ss Cyril and Methodious and see the bullet holes where the Nazis tried to shoot their way into the crypt after the resistance paratroopers were betrayed and their location revealed. They ultimately committed suicide before being captured. Hitler's response to this was to exterminate adn literally "wipe off the map" the small town of Lidice where the relatives of the dissidents were from. Almost all the residents of the town were executed and the town was razed. Church is a symbol and memorial of resistance to the Nazi occupation.
