Description:
This is one of the very few officially designated mullet-free zones in the city. The uber-chic café/restaurant features an extensive cocktail list. Imaginative daily specials are featured on a chalkboard wall and cost considerably more. The outdoor and open indoor seating make this an ideal spot to people-watch behind your dark Versace shades. The service is discreet but attentive.

Description:
Escape the tourist onslaught of Old Town Square, pop into the quieter Tyn Square and head down a narrow passage where you will find this restaurant hiding unassumingly in the corner. Once inside, inspect the fresh catches of the day which have been flown in (pike perch, eel and salmon, to name a few) before taking a seat in the sleek, cavernous interior. For starters, dive into sea snails in garlic butter before choosing one of the freshwater or saltwater seafood options. In the warmer months, you can enjoy a pleasant, relaxing lunch outside under the twin towers of the Church of Our Lady before Tyn. According to The New York Times, this place offers "the freshest fish in Central Europe".

Description:
Pravda is situated in a recently-reconstructed building on an elegant street. The facade, with its rich detail, is truly beautiful. For this reason, you may be surprised at the interior's simplicity. There is but one painting hanging in the dining room, aptly called "Pravda," which means "truth." The restaurant hopes to celebrate the bold, honest Velvet Revolution and the freedom that followed. White tablecloths and crystal chandeliers complete the graceful mood. This minimalist interior gives little away about the International delights that make up its menu. Inspiration comes from Asian, European, and, of course, Czech tradition. An elegant place-to-be-seen that delivers high-quality dishes and an overall pleasant experience, you're in good company if you choose to dine at Pravda.

Description:
With its excellent view of Prague Castle, the Bellevue is my perennial top choice. The ambitious owners (who also run Vinárna V zátisí and Mlýnec, both reviewed below) have put all their energy into the Bellevue's intelligent menu: beef, nouvelle sauces, well-dressed fish and duck, delicate pastas, and artistic desserts. For a tamer but extraordinary treat, try the filet of fallow deer. Al dente pastas share a plate with lobster-and-spinach purée, garlic and herbs, or tomatoes and olives. The greens on the side are always fresh and never overcooked. Desserts feature hot bitter chocolate tart, or wild berries in port and cognac served with vanilla and walnut ice cream. The consistent food and presentation and the pleasant and perfectly timed service make your meal at Bellevue one to remember.

Description:
The contrast is stark between the bright, renovated Hotel Adria at street level and the cave-like interior (complete with impressions of scenes from ancient mythology) of its restaurant below. Yet there is something about the unusual ambience of the place which makes it popular with locals, business folk and tourists. Candle-lit and romantic, the restaurant offers French and international dishes alongside more standard Czech fare. A good selection of French and Moravian wines complement the cuisine. Worth a visit for its originality alone, the Triton's live acts often get the place jumping.

Description:
Czech designer Borek Sípek, the man who remodeled former president Havel's offices in Prague Castle, has created a pleasant earthy interior mixing dark and light wood, rattan chairs, and intricate floral arrangements. In this calm oasis, you can relax and enjoy an excellent meal. Highly recommended among the light (but lively) salads and fish and vegetarian dishes is the filet of salmon boiled in champagne with an egg yolk tarragon sauce and served with ginger rice and sautéed vegetables.

Description:
Kampa Park used to be the top fine dining establishment in Prague. While it's grasp on that top spot has weakened, it still has a lot to offer. Perhaps the most exceptional thing about this restaurant is the gorgeous view of the Vltava river. In the summertime, you can enjoy it from a seat on the lively patio below Charles Bridge, surrounded by the scent of succulent meat and fish cooking on the barbecue. In the wintertime, the large windows frame the gorgeous scene outside as flickering candles maintain a quiet, cozy atmosphere. From the simplest dish to the most complex, Kampa Park's continental menu is always well executed. Service can range from flawless to borderline-rude and the prices definitely account for the phenomenal view, but for a delicious fine dining experience that doesn't require you to leave Prague's beauty behind, Kampa Park is still the place to be.

Description:
Once upon a time, this was one of the hottest spots in town to eat, and everything from the wait to the service reflected that. These days, its less crowded but still popular for its affordable hybrid fare. Substantial salads with sautéed chicken and sesame combination is especially good. Alternatively, try the chicken in coconut milk. Vegetarian dishes are also recommended. The service has improved considerably but still sometimes comes up short.
