Description:
Moved to the downtown Arts District from its former Federal Hill address, this longtime favorite hasn't lost a smidgen of its old verve. Pinlights in the ceiling hint at the night sky, a theme carried out with rather too much enthusiasm in the proliferation of five-pointed stars scattered over the rest of the room. That aside, there are unlikely to be legit complaints about either the food or the people who bring it. It all starts with an amuse bouche -- on one occasion, a tiny cup of broccoli soup with lemon oil. The first course can be the artisanal cheese tasting accompanied by pistachios, pepper jelly, and blueberry compote. Carnivores will be more than sated by the loin of lamb with an olive and almond crust with haricot verts and morel bordelaise. While the entrees mostly involve grilled or roasted meats, an elaborate tasting of fruits and vegetables is also available. A three-course theater menu for $40 is available from 5 to 7pm (the Trinity Repertory Company is across the street), and on Thursday they hold a free wine and cheese tasting from 5 to 7pm.
