Though Puebla is not that a big city, it does have a lot of places that are not necessarily downtown. While in downtown you can walk pretty much anywhere, but these place, though some close to downtown, are probably not close enough to walk.
This Top 10 List of Off The Beaten Path Things to Do in Puebla contains those places that are worth leaving downtown for a while.
The further site of this list is the Angelopolis Mall (Centro Comercial) and though it's not a touristic spot, is a great place for shopping, so you ladies understand why is on the list, right?
In Los Fuertes, the hill where the Cinco de Mayo battle took place, are many sites you have to visit. Specially the two forts that defended the city on May 5, during the battle. Closer to downtown, but still on the hill, Xanenetla is the newest yet historical touristic spot in Puebla. The murals created by the residents and artists are a unique artistic and touristic visit you have to do.
The Templo de San Francisco and the Galeria de Arte Contemporaneo are not that far away from downtown, but they're on the other side of a busy boulevard, so you'll might wanna take a cab.
