Exconvento de Santa Rosa

  • Type: Culture
  • NileGuide Expert Says:

You won't believe the kitchen in it! It's beautiful, and it may be the reason why the nuns spent so many time figuring out new mexican dishes.

  • Description:

    • Unlike its neighbor, this former convent was unable to postpone confiscation and served variously as barracks, hospital, and public housing. It's now the home of the Museo de Arte Popular. You can see the kitchen where mole was invented, and afterward the museum guide will take you upstairs to see displays of the crafts practiced in the state. If you enjoy handicrafts, don't miss this place; it has some rare and lovely examples of artisanship. Tours take 1 hour and usually start on the hour.
