Trade Winds Restaurant

Description:

  • This restaurant is often recommended by hotel owners across the island and therefore manages to feed the residents of a large cross section of island hotels. It lies beside the oceanfront esplanade in the fishing village of Esperanza. A dining experience here often begins with a drink at the open-air Topside Bar. For dinner, the chef's specialties revolve around steak; fish; and lobster, which are often served with butter-flavored rum sauce. The best steak is an 8-ounce filet, cooked just right over the charbroiler and served with a baked potato and a house or Caesar salad; also available is herb-marinated pork loin with mashed potatoes. The fresh fish special varies and is usually a good item to order, as is the jumbo shrimp sautéed with garlic and lemon, or served with curry sauce. Black-bean soup is a good opener.
