Description:

  • Beginning in the morning and continuing throughout the day, Mexicans of all ages and classes celebrate the country's independence won by defeating the French at Puebla in 1862. Parades marching through the streets of downtown punctuate the day. Many a visitors may find this celebration a bit strange, especially if realizing that the French eventually defeated the Mexican army in the French-Mexican war. But it was still a victory to remember, and it is celebrated with gusto to this day.
