This tradition is also present in Mexico, but with a different twist: In Mexico this date is not only to celebrate love, but also to celebrate friendship. In Puerto Vallarta, all restaurants, bars and discos join in the celebration. Some venues (especially restaurants), focus more on the love part, but in general, the consensus is to celebrate friendship. Some places host contests, provide special party favors, and most all advertise meal promotions and drink specials. Credit card acceptance varies by venue.
