Description:

  • Although not a Mexican tradition, Halloween has become very common around the country, and especially in Puerto Vallarta. Many of the local hotels and clubs have made it common practice to celebrate el dia de brujas (witches day), as it is referred to. Local bars and clubs have contests for the best costume, and the holiday presents an excellent opportunity to see how Mexicans have adapted to this tradition. Everybody seems to find the opportunity of dressing up as something else - from former presidents, to famous clowns, to drag and beauty queens and beauty queens - quite enjoyable. Many people dress in Grim Reaper costumes, which is appropriate because the following two days are dedicated to the memory of the dead Dia de Muertos.
