Hickatee Cottages

• This place features a small collection of rooms set under tall trees amongst flowering gardens. Located just a mile from downtown, you'll feel a world apart nonetheless. All the rooms are quite spacious, with varnished wood floors, furniture made by Belizean Mennonites, one queen and one twin bed, a separate sitting area, and a front veranda strung with a hammock. There's a small creek running through the property, which you can explore by kayak, and you can hike some trails through thick forest and brush here. The bird-watching is excellent. If the heat of the day gets to you, there's a small but refreshing plunge pool. Meals are served in the homey main lodge. The owners, who met on the Green Tortoise bus, got off the bus to set up this little place.
