Sir Andrew Macphail Homestead

Description:

• The simple, sparely decorated restaurant is located in the Macphail homestead and features a limited menu of classic dishes. Arrive early enough for a leisurely walk through the grounds; then request a table on the sun porch, which is always bright and summery. The menu includes the Macphail haggis, a modern adaptation of the traditional Scottish meal ("There are no sheep stomachs involved," the hostess assured me). Other dishes range from roast lamb to sole amandine, and the menu always includes a vegetarian selection. Lunches feature soups, sandwiches, and salads.
